About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

Wish Granted!

Hi,
This is our exciting news. The "worker guys" were here yesterday to build Hans a play structure. Wow - we are totally excited. What a cool thing. It's all thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We decided to go ahead and change out Hans' wish from a Costa Rica Adventure, to a play structure. Kevin and I came to this decision somewhere after the hospital runs in November, and as soon as the kids got on board we officially changed the wish. Now we get to enjoy it for years and years! We'll just have to do the rain forest/volcano trip on our own someday.
Thanks Make a Wish and all of its supporters. How wonderful!

We are off to enjoy a day of berry "hunting" and Chuck E Cheese. Pretty cool. We're already enjoying my mom and Uncle Dean's visit quite a bit - more pictures later!

While I would have preferred the Costa Rico trip, I think that the play ground in the backyard has a lot more value for Hans. From the looks of it, they can pretend it is a rainforest tree house, a rocket to the moon, and submarine, or any number of other things. That's the perfect make-a-wish.

Tune into Erin's site when you get back from berry picking. I have a new angle on KBH and think it's time to push a little more.
