About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

TCH Bake Sale Wednesday!

If you're anywhere near the Med Center on Wednesday, please try to make it out to the Bake Sale of the Century! For a while there I thought we had 30 bakers, but as word spreads like wildfire and everyone's mom, neighbor, and bridge group buddy wants to offer up their best, we are about to have the sale of the century!

Four TCH moms (me, Amy, Tracy, and Athena), one grandma and Carmen will be there along with Hans, Roman and Colby to sell. I think we're gonna do really well. All proceeds will be divvyed up among the TCH kids with LFL campaigns and they'll go back to NB research at TCH. I'm baking heart shaped brownies, heart shaped red velvet cupcakes, and a ton of sugar cookies.

10 - 3pm on the 3rd floor bridge of TCH Wednesday, Feb 13th!

I have to thank all of the other TCH moms, like Karen, and their neighbors, and their moms, Carmen, and Monte, Michelle, Lisa, Alana, Kuovonne, Vicki, Dana, Marlene, Ginger, Anne, Sheri, Shirley and everyone who is helping with the sale! And thanks to Kev, he has been my tech guy helping with the flyer and getting my poster all set. Thanks also to Elle and Hans' friends - Ryan, Michael, Morgan and Adrian. They all got together afterschool today and helped us make a gorgeous banner for the sale! Carmen has stepped up and she's just been "co-president" of the bake sale since day 1 - thanks! Thanks, also to Donna Arnett, who will be taking care of Elle all day Wednesday while we get through the echo and wrap up the sale!

We're also turning the sale into a letter writing campaign. We hope to send off hundreds of letters to Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, encouraging her to "sign on" to the Conquer Childhood Cancer Act!

I guess it's not a bad way to spend the hours that we'd normally be up there waiting out the time b/w Hans' MIBG injection and Echocardiogram.

Wish us luck!

Lara

Your bake sale / letter writing event sounds great! We wish you tons of customers. Great idea to add the letter writing campaign.

We're keeping our fingers crossed for good news on all of Hans' scans.

Love, Kathy and Dale
