About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

We are halfway there!

Today marks the halfway point in Hans' treatment! He began treatment on October 25th, just four days after being admitted to Texas Children's. The first part of treatment lasts 6 months, so today we're halfway there. Incidentally, three months from today - April 25th - is our wedding anniversary. It'll be extra special this year. The second part of treatment is basically just a monthly medication and check ups.
Hans continues to look better and they are now weaning him off of his pain meds.
It has been great to have Megan and Phil here for this past week plus. They actually bought a car while out here, and Phil had to go back Saturday to start up school at San Jose State, so Phil's brother Tommy is flying out tonight to make the 1800 mile road trip back to Santa Cruz with Megan. They found a VW Golf TDI like Kevin's here. They are apparently hard to find in CA, so we're glad they found one here!
That's the update for today. Thanks to everyone for the little and big things you've done to help us out through these past three months.
Lara

I work with Kevin's mom up here in Ellensburg and want you to know how amazed and inspired we all are by Hans and your family. There are many people praying for you everyday, and I would agree that God has you all in the palm of His hand. Bless you all. P.S. Kevin - Your mom is an angel!! Wendi Reuble
