About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

Celebration of Life

Hans' Celebration of Life will be held at The Northgate Community Center in Seattle, WA on Saturday October 20th from     4 - 7pm.  We are planning a buffet, a program, a balloon release for Hans and a game of kickball, because 9 year old boys should be playing kickball.  So, bring an appetite and a pair of kicks.

Believe me, Hans would want everyone to wear whatever they like.

Thanks to all my friends and family who are helping us get ready for this celebration.  Special thanks to my Aunt Pati who is hosting the event at 'her' community center.

I'm thinking Sponge Bob or Lego pajamas.

Hans once told me you only have to wear (street) clothes if you're going to school. Otherwise PJ's were appropriate dress for any occasion!

I've lived in Seattle for the past 40 years and can tell you this is the perfect place to dress however you like and no one will care. I'm with Hans, just be comfortable, all the time and anywhere (expect maybe school of course!)

Kevin and Lara, what a beautiful celebration of Hans. I hear so much about you all from my mom, Cindy Dyk. I was so happy to be there and learn more about Hans. I can see that he was a happy little silly little boy. I loved the all the words your family and friends spoke. May God bless you and keep you close at this time. Thank you for sharing your little guy. Melanie Miller
