About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

Home

Ahh, here we are at home!

What a relief. Thank you to everyone who helped us get through that one. For your visits(Natalie, Roxie, Kim, mom), calls, care packages(Aunt Pati and Grandma Kathy we've rec'd yours at the hospital yesterday, somehow, plus one wonderful paint by numbers kit from anonymous) Thank you! Thanks for Elle care/home upkeep (mom), Honey and kitty care Elixabeth and fam, :) Thanks to everyone who tried to send a package but it didn't get there yet. I'll keep working on it, and keep you posted.

I'm pretty well wiped out right now so I'll keep it short. We got some potentially wonderful news on our way out the door this morning. There was NO UPTAKE in yesterday's scan. I asked what that means, and Dr. DuBois said "it could be really good news" I inferred that potentially there is no more NB to take up the MIBG. Or, perhaps the scan wasn't sensitive enough to find it. This scan is just a very quick 10 minute MIBG scan. Or, Kevin suggested that Hans might no longer be MIBG avid. Who knows. We don't have our rescanning dates set in stone yet, but she should find out with scans in the beginning or middle of April.

I think we will get stem cells next week. Hans has had a really low ANC, so he's not allowed to go back to the classroom on Thursday. I am hoping he can rejoin the class next week.

Thanks for hanging in there with us.

So glad you're all home together again! Good call by Hans not to make the icy drive last night - a very smart guy! Hope you all get back to a normal schedule very soon :)

Time for rest, great food, and the rhythms of home!

Hans will have fun as re-routed surprise packages find their way to your mailbox!

Thinking of all of you snug in your nest!

Love and hugs,
