About Me

My photo
Bakersfield, CA, United States
Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

Who Knows!

Our special trip is coming up... we were supposed to leave here at about 7 am tomorrow... BUT (why does there always have to be a BUT)... we wound up in clinic today with a little sickie Hansie. Hans has had a thick runny nose, and sore throat. Thankfully - - no fever. Dr. Rainusso actually suspects Strep:( We got a culture that won't come back for 3 -5 days, so we are now on Penecillan just in case. So, I went ahead and pushed our departure back a day. We'll see if we are taking off on Wednesday or not!!!

We've got some other HUGE news, I'll devote a post to it when we get back! Wow - we have a lot going on. Don't worry, it's not another baby! Something else BIG that we've been trying to figure out how to make happen for a long, long time.

Here's a pic of Hans helping us paint our kitchen:) He's so cute and helpful. Too bad I couldn't get him to change out of his 'good' jammies before he helped me this time! Here's a pic of our finished kitchen. Wow - that was the biggest home improvement project I've ever done - staining all those cabinets! But, I did get some help from my crew around here.

WOW, Hans, you have the look of a professional painter...even in your jammies! You will be receiving job offers!

Boo on the sniffles! May it just be a sore throat of short duration so you will soon be on your way!

The kitchen has such a lovely "warm" look! Perfect color combinations!

Have fun on Spring Break!

Love and hugs,
Aunt Susy

Hoping you all get on that plane soon - what island are you going to? Uncle Michael may have contacts where you're going!

So excited for your trip - saw on Kevin's fb today. Sounds AWESOME and so well-deserved!!! I hope Hans doesn't end up with strep! Boo! Crossing my fingers Hans gets better - and fast!

Am DYING to hear your HUGE news! Oh, wait! Maybe I know it already. I almost gave it away...hoping only for a slight modification that I'm sure you can guess, and then realized I haven't seen mention of it here...! Gah!

Love the photo of Hans on the fridge. So cute! Our kitchen is in desperate need of painting...desperate! What's his fee?
