About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

no tears!

We went up to clinic and got labs and a shot of Neulasta today. This was Hans' third shot and for the first time he had no tears! He is usually such a toughie, it was surprising to see him crying to get his first two shots. Not this time! I guess he has absorbed it as his new routine and can now handle it. Hans' ANC was already 1800, but he gets Neulasta each round anyway, now. HGB was only 9.0 so hopefully all will be well when we go back and check next week!

We are having a "hard freeze" here getting into the 20's with chances of snow. That's a Big Deal here! We actually all have 3 and 4 day weekends because of it:) Kevin was sent home today and school's out tomorrow! Isn't that amazing at just the chance of snow? We are all thrilled about it though.

I think Hans is already having a case of spring break-itis. He's been slow to transition into getting to work for his teachers this week. One of his teachers coined a new term - "He's a Hansful!" I love it. When you're right you're right...

Kevin had Strep Throat last week and Elle is trying to get it this week. We took her to the pediatrician yesterday and her test was negative but she has missed a half day yesterday and today because of a sore throat. Hans and I are dodging it, knock wood/fingers crossed!

Please say some prayers for our dear friend Patrick! I got to see him up at TCH today. I am always glad to see him and his mom. He's just been in a rough spot in his treatment for a couple of weeks and could use some prayers.
Love, Lara

trHans, Patrick, and friends continue to be my heroes!

Oh, Elle ... ALL of you ... say NO to the bad bugs! Oh, have been full of mischief in my classroom!

SNOW??? In The Woodlands?! A mirage?!

Wish it were so in Raton...last Tuesday and Wednesday evening it was between 30-40 degrees BELOW zero with wind chill factors! Scary business! A quick 10 minute trip to Buzzy's barn was a long trip outdoors! We did go to school, but no recess outdoors. We now have 4-6 inches of snow with 3 foot drifts...more to come! Winter has arrived!

May all of you be well and frisky!

Love and hugs,
Aunt Susy
