About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

back in the swing

We made it home with no hassles and a safe landing. Hans was a little reluctant to start back up with his teachers after a loooong winter break, but he came around. He is learning about the water cycle with his science teacher. He's going to have a teacher change up at semester - we will welcome Ms. Kathy back after recovering from her surgery, and Mrs. Yoakum will move along to the next child. Hans has overall done well with his homebound instructors and we've been very pleased!

We are back into the swing of things. This is one of the busiest times of the year, when v'ball and soccer overlap on top of cookie sales. Glad to have good news under our belts to forge ahead. And, Kevin and I are still getting ready for the BP MS 150! We try to get one long ride in a week - so far 41 miles has been our longest ride. Kevin is faster and stronger than I am, but he is teaching me the ropes. It's nice for us to have a fitness goal and have something big to do together!

It's already Day 4 of Round 18. We go in for labs locally here Monday, and then again on Thursday down at TCH where Hans also has an Endocrine appt and he'll get his quick shot of Nuelasta.

That's all for now - Lara
