About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

Happy Fourth of July!

Hi there,
Wow - I just looked at my last post and was surprised to see that was last Monday. Whoops. I was trying to do better... Guess I was just busy... this week we've been swimming a lot! We're taking The Woodlands Pools 13 Pools in 90 day challenge, but we're trying to do it in more like 15 days, so we'll see how we do. We got our punch card on Monday, and we've already checked off five pools. I can get a little obsessive;)

Tuesday, I had a group of four beaders over...Elle and her friends Kelly, Kae and Morgan. The girls did a great job and we are getting stocked up to send some lanyards to the CNCF conference this month. We can't go this year, but the lanyards will be there, in case people want to buy, or maybe some other families will get the 'bead bug' too... Kelly got it! She's already been back by to pick up more beads for additional projects! I love it! I'll try to do a couple more of these little workshops.

Since then, its been some swimming and pool play dates and more fun. We're very much enjoying Hans being more back to Baseline Hans. No ABT side effects! Life is good. We found out his Echo is on Monday. A cardiologist will be standing by, watching, as this echo is ordered with some "extra windows". Whatever that means... I think I'm putting a mental wall up about this heart stuff for the moment. I almost don't want to learn about it because I hope it becomes just a non-issue. Maybe I have my head in the sand, but maybe it's a little more self-preservation. Who knows! I'll keep you posted.

This morning, we had the privilege of watching Elle do Baton with the Texas Twirlers in The Woodlands Parade. It was pretty cool. Elle and I went and helped decorate the float last night. So, this has been a pretty big deal around here. I am pretty impressed with her skills after only 3 or 4 classes! Being from the Northwest, I never thought I'd be the mom of a "Texas Twirler", but hey, it was pretty fun! Now we have a few hours of downtime before we can go stake out a good spot for the Fireworks. The Tour de France starts today, so, we shall be watching and enjoying.

We snapped a couple pics - Elle and friends at the parade, and I snuck one of Hans (he was trying to hide from the camera), but this one was taken just now. Too bad I couldn't get one of his hair. It's been kind of amazing lately, it looks like he's seeing a professional colorist for all his pretty blond highlights.

Happy Fourth. Be safe. Take it Easy.

I'm glad you have re-caught the beading bug. I think I'm going to dial it down a little. We had 48 in the house yesterday (though only about three-quarters of them were beading, the rest--mostly spouses--came late for the libations portion of the event).

The California lanyards brought in $1500, so I guess I'm not going to fret over the cost of overnighting them out there.

We are almost back up to where we ended up last week when you were there.

Call or text on Monday with echo results. I haven't been able to compartmentalize as well as you have about it.
