About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

All Smiles on the Trampoline

Hans got a little jump time in with his buds, over on The Smiley's new trampoline from Santa. The bigger kids were all very sweet about taking turns and not trampling Hans.

Things still seem to be going fine here. Hans's counts were still good on Friday - and the only thing I did wrong was forget to pick up the new scrip of potassium while in the med center, so he has been getting a slightly higher dose using what we have at home. Hopefully his counts will be just fine tomorrow. Kevin and I were okay with this - since his Potass dropped just a bit on the lower dose, and the pharm. wasn't even open Sunday. What are ya gonna do?

A lot of our friends and cyber friends and getting scans and results now. Erin, Patrick, Colby, Sydney, Sam, and probably a lot more. I am just hoping all the pieces fall into place for their next round of treatments! Speaking of scans - I think my 'scanxiety' (as Vickie calls it) is starting to set in a little early. Two weeks to go - and I'm starting to get a bit nervous. Nothin' to do about that but wait until 1/29.

Thank you very much to Mark Nolen and Grandma Kathy who together donated more miles than we needed to make our next trip to Philly. I am proud that Continental, an airline I've long preferred for some reason, has such a wonderful program as Careforce!

We had some good weather yesterday for our first day of Elle's Girl Scout cookie sales. The next post will be from Elle, who has taken on a special service project along with her troop.

Hans is pretty much a daddy's boy (or daddy's kid as he says). He is always sad to see Monday roll around and lose daddy to work. He is on the countdown now - just three more nights and then daddy gets 3 days off (thanks to his 9/80 schedule). Hans wasn't ready to send Kev back to work after 2 weeks at home over Christmas. He told him to ask his boss for 14 more days off. I'm not sure how that conversation went!
Catch ya later.
Lara

Looks like fun times! Elle, put me down for some of those low fat cookies.

Funny how Hans has that 14 day thing going. As I recall, he said he was going to go back to visit Uncle Mark, Aunt Debi and KK for 14 days too!

See you all soon,
Love, G. Kathy
