About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

Radiation is Complete!

As of yesterday, Hans completed his twelve days of radiation. Whoo Hoo!

All of us were able to be there on his last day-Kevin and I, as well as Elle and Grandma Kathy. I got some pictures with the staff. I'll post them eventually! Hans did really really well with Radiation. We can't really detect any side effects yet. He is sleeping in right now, it's nice not to wake him before 6am.

Kevin's mom, Kathy, flew in on Tuesday. We now have four days completely off from the Medical Center. It's strange, it seems like a really long break.

Hans goes in for his second surgery on Monday the 19th. Please keep him in your prayers that day.

We met with the Bone Marrow Transplant people on Monday. They are planning on admitting Hans into the Bone Marrow Unit on March 29th. That's just 10 days of recovery from surgery, but they think Hans will be okay. They told us to expect a hospital stay of about four weeks on the Bone Marrow Unit. This will be our longest admission yet, but at least it's the home stretch.

If you're close by, we might appreciate your recent magazines to pass the time in the hospital (we already get Rolling Stone and National Geographic). Thanks!

Lara
