About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

CT Scan results

Well, we got the bummer news yesterday that there was a spot on the CT Scan. The thinking is that it is a little bit of tumor that was somehow missed in surgery. We're not sure, but it appears on the original CT scans and is still there now. It was a little shocking since the MIBG scan was clear. Now we are figuring out the best approach. The good news is that it doesn't appear to be a new tumor growing. Our plan now is to increase the radiation and the re-scan before we go ahead with the Bone Marrow Transplant. We may even be able to consider a second surgery. It has been a bit hard to absorb this over the past 24 hours. We were all just starting to feel so great. It was nice to have the plan all figured out. But, I guess things can just change so quickly!
Tomorrow is the bone marrow aspiration and the dental work. Keep little Hans in your prayers and thoughts, please, for the best possible outcome for tomorrow!
Thank you all.
Lara

Oh Lara, I am so sorry. But Hans is still in our prayers each night and we think of him often. Please let me know if there is ANYTHING that you need. I can even send another pizza over one night :). We will be thinking about him tomorrow and will say a special prayer at Little Saints in the Giraffe Room. God Bless you guys!

Lara, Kevin, Elle and Hans,

Hans is such a strong little guy, and with the strength of the support you all have behind you, he will stay strong.
We're still praying for you all and we keep a candle lit for Hans. Greta is missing her best friend terribly and is worried about her through all of this. I wish we were closer, so I could do more for you guys, but our thoughts and love are always with you.

Shelley, Tim and Greta

Like everyone else I am so sorry to hear of this setback, but Hans has rallied before and he will beat this, too. The human organism is a resilient one! Mucho love, Erin
