About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

Radiation Underway...

Hans did a great job at his first day of Radiation today! I had him out the door by 6 am and he didn't even complain about not being able to eat. I think he "gets it". He knows now that I'll have food ready for him as soon as it's okay for him to eat. We beat most traffic and got there early. We were in and out by 7:50 am! Hans didn't experience any side effects and was able to enjoy a PB&J and a Red Berry Capri Sun right in the recovery room. The nurse there is very sweet and she was even supportive of me wanting to trim his fingernails when he was still out cold. Tomorrow I'll conquer his toenails.

We were able to check in for counts bright and early. We found out the good news that his counts are all up. We were free to go by 10 am! Whoo hoo!

I just sent y'all an e-mail about all of the parents Caitlin and I are getting to e-mail/call Kevin Brady, he's a good guy, I'm sure he'll get on this ASAP, esp. with ALOT of pressure from his constituents...the "Woodlands Moms" are a very powerful, wealthy group of individuals, most of which have ALOT of time on their hands, LOL!
