I just wanted to thank everyone for their tireless efforts to make the "Run for Hans" a success. I personally was overwhelmed by the number of people who came out early on a Saturday morning to run/walk and support the Weberling family. I hope everyone had as great of a time as I did.
I think Beth Whitehead did a wonderful job organizing this event and making it happen. Rich Cooper and the other members of Woodlands Fit did a great job too to help direct runners at intersections and to help the run go smoothly.
There are so many people to thank and I don't have a complete list but I just wanted to list a few: Susie Schreiber and Luke's Locker for their incredible support and expertise; Jon Walk from Houston Running Blog in getting information to the running community; St. Anthony's Little Saints including Jude, Bernie, Jill Tresaugue, Katie Kozak, Denise Hunter, and Denise Oppenheimer for organizing the raffle and set up and break down; Shipley's Donuts, Panera, Brooklyn Bagels, It's a Grind, and Chick-Fil-A for their generous donations of food and beverage (the Chick-Fil-A cow was awesome!); Jason O'Donoghue and Lans Taylor for providing great live music; First Choice ER for providing ambulance service "just in case"; all the companies providing products and services for the raffle; "Elvis" for making an appearance; and Carmen Smiley for everything.
God Bless you all,
Ginger
About Me
- Hans Weberling
- Bakersfield, CA, United States
- Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

To all those who were integral in preparing such a successful ‘Run for Hans’ this morning and to all those volunteers that made it smooth & fun:
As a participant, I thank you for your superb job as evidenced by this morning. I never forgot why we were all there and I thought I’d share some of my thoughts as well as express a common thread of conversation that took place. People were openly commenting about the outpouring of compassion and generosity. It was emotionally moving and a blessing to witness.
I recall a special on 20/20 quite awhile ago that talked about ‘acts of kindness.’ Apparently, there is an actual chemical change that occurs in ones body when one is the giver, recipient or even a witness to acts of kindness...MY GOSH, everyone at Barbara Bush Elementary at any time between 6 and 10 AM got some major doses of that chemical change. No wonder we were all feeling lifted by the well-wishes for Hans and the Weberlings.
Not only were the efforts of all of you sponsors, coordinators and volunteers appreciated by the Weberlings (as Lara expressed in her recent posting) but I too would like to thank you. Your gifts were not only for Hans but were also for the community in that I, and as expressed by others, were reminded of how incredible people are. There are such loving, compassionate, generous and sincere souls out there and they seemed to congregate at Barbara Bush Elementary this morning. What a great place to be…among such wonderful people. Thank you again.
Peace to you all,
Lisa Cronce
