About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

on watch

Well, we made it through clinic without a transfusion, but only by a hair. Hans' platelets rose to a whopping 41, (you transfuse at 20, generally) but the HGB dropped to 8.1... just .2 above the transfusion benchmark. I don't know what's going on... maybe his little virus last week whacked out his blood counts, maybe it was all they labs they drew while he was inpatient!

They may not bounce back in time to start the next round in time, but that's okay. We were going to postpone Round 21 by a week anyway. We have a big Spring Break planned that I haven't wanted to jinx, so I haven't mentioned yet! Just a week and a half away - can't believe it!!! BIG FUN is in store!

Oh, sorry to be so mysterious with that last pic. We can't seem to keep the grass growing in that spot in our back yard, so we finally got a firebowl to be able to do something with the space. Hans was putting it together, with a little help from his dad.

Okay - that's it for now. Hoping Hans can stay out of the hospital this whole weekend!!

May Spring Break rule!

Love and prayers for great counts and an absence of hospitals on your agenda!

Signs of spring are flying through the air...Buzzy's hair!! A blanket of white covered and 12' x12' area after grooming sweet Buzz on Saturday! Thank goodness the weather is warming!

Thinking of you and spring flowers!

Love and hugs,
