About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

Made Counts!

Our sweet neighbors Dan and Cindy gave the kids these confetti easter eggs...Zach and Hans busting cascarones on each other's heads in our driveway. My friends Marlene and Veronica clued us into this fun Easter Egg tradition from the hispanic culture. Elle said it is WAY better than plastic eggs with candy. You cut the tip off the egg, drain, rinse, dye, fill with confetti, cover with a little tab of tissue paper, a lot of work for a lot of fun!! (Or, you can just buy them at HEB for 1.99 a dozen. I think that's what I'll be doing next year)

Zach and Elle and cascarones. Thanks to Alana and Darren for sending these pics. I'm Ms. Chaos over here and could not locate my camera until about 10pm Easter night!

We went to the clinic yesterday. We were pleasantly surprised that Hans' ANC was WAY UP at 2780. Hans HGB was okay at 9.9 and Platelets looked fab at 188. So, yay, it looks like the lows on that last round were from the little virus he was fighting off. We'll see how this round goes. We have to get official thumbs up from CHOP, get the meds via Fed Ex, and then start off on Thursday hopefully with Round 6 of Millennium.

Everything is okay. Here we are having great, beautiful days, staying on top of everything, getting things done, taking care of business, and then all of a sudden, I'm giving Hans an airplane ride in the living room and he says - ow, my shoulder hurts!!! Argh! That same right side. You'd think with scans clear in that area just SEVEN days ago we're okay on NB there. You'd think! You'd think it's maybe sore from all the swinging, throwing the ball to Honey, cracking cascarones over everyone's heads, and general fun he's been having! I guess we'll put that on a watch and let the docs know we're watching it. Fun, fun fun!

Thanks for checking up on us!

Lara

Great pictures! It's always so heart warming to see the kids with big smiles and know that life is going relatively smooth. And I choose to believe that the shoulder is just from over use and fun times!

Prayers that this next round goes smoothly and everyone can continue having good times!
Love, Kathy

The joyful glee is delightful to see!

So pleased to know your days are filled with fun times...it sounds like Hans has legitimate reasons for shoulder aches!

All of you remain in the prayers of your Raton support group...you are treasured deep in all of our hearts and thoughts!

Love and hugs,
Aunt Susy
