About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

Cookies Delivered/Counts Checked

I took Hans down to TCH for a counts-check today. Everything (including Potassium, HGB, and Platelets) was great - except for the ole ANC... It was only 500... and on Day 6! Yuck! That means we are likely to bottom out much lower on about Saturday or so. The day my mom gets here for her spring break. The plan is to check counts locally on Friday and hope to do fine until next Tuesday when we go back for more counts. Avoid crowds and germs... we know the drill. But, thankfully, our weather couldn't be more gorgeous and we can't spend enough time outside. It's gonna get hot soon.

Hans is in good spirits, so then, are the rest of us!

Elle got an invitation to participate in select or competitive band with her clarinet. She's got a pretty good competitive streak so that should be a good fit for her. Last I heard she was tied for first chair at her school/in her grade level. She has a band concert/solo performance this Saturday. I'm just happy that it lands perfectly between either soccer game, but, unfortunately, well before my mom's flight gets in.

Here are a couple more pics... Yesterday our girl scout troop (plus Hans) delivered over 6 cases of cookies to the Interfaith Food Pantry - Thank you friends/family/neighbors/donors. The girls got a nice tour of the food pantry and I am hoping they will commit to being good contributors for years to come.

Lara

PS - I think our troop still has about 35 boxes of cookies to unload. Let me know if you "need" a box. All out of thin mints.
