About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

Round 7 ABT751 Under Way...

Hi,
I think my feathers were a bit ruffled this week. It's frustrating to get information painfully slowly when your boy's treatment decisions hang in the balance. But, I need to move forward, and focus on the fact that the Echo showed good heart function, and we can just proceed! Halleluiah!

Hans started round 7 of ABT751 yesterday. The side effects haven't popped up yet, but they likely will be showing up over the next several days.

We are just continuing our mission - two pools to go! Then, next week, Hans will be celebrating his Big 6th Birthday! Yeah!!! Our great friend Roxie is coming out for the week and we will surely have some good fun times. Then, it's off to Seattle the next week. Kev can't come though:(, he has got too much going on at work. But in this crazy economy, we just feel lucky to keep the paychecks rolling in, so I guess we'll do what we gotta do, or he'll do what he's gotta do for us, rather...

I have to share this blog. In some of the saddest news I've ever heard, this family has suffered the loss of their Super Ryan, www.superryan.blogspot.com, but also their loving mom, Missy, as well. Missy lost her 2 year battle to breast cancer two days before Ryan lost his 5 year battle to NB yesterday. If any family could use our thoughts and prayers now, certainly, the surviving members of this loving little family could... Les, Will, and Heidi.

I used to ponder so hard over the hypothetical question... if you only had one wish, what would it be? Now I'd tell any little genie that popped up in front of me in two words, two seconds, no second guesses, "Cure Cancer."

Thanks for checking up on us today.
Lara

God, I can't imagine what that family is going through... it's just unthinkable..

Happy early birthday to Hans! Great news about the echo, it sounds like things are going in the right direction!

Good luck on your pool mission, 2 to go - that's awesome!

Good morning, dear ones...I prefer to picture Ryan and Missy hand in hand in joy. I cannot begin to imagine the family's heartache, and wish for them peace, love, and newfound joys.

The echo cardiogram news is MOST welcomed!
Onward and forward!

Enjoy the Seattle crowd and adventures...what a great way to celebrate YOUR day, Hans! I know family and friends are delighted you will soon be there!

I startled a young bear on my early morning walk yesterday...we shall see if the little scamp is around and about this morning!

Love and hugs,
Aunt Susy

Lara, I can't imagine what that family is going through. Mom and son in heaven and family here trying to make sense of it all. Thanks for sharing.
