I just wanted to let you all know about a cubscout den mate of Hans' friend Michael, Gregor Mathieson. At a cubscout meeting I (Michael's dad) informed the group about the Lunch-For-Life fundraiser and passed out some of the bags. When Gregor learned about it he went home and asked his mother and father if there was something that they could do to help. So Gregor's family, parents Gail and Derek, hosted a dinner to raise money. Gail sent me an email describing the evening and here's an excerpt:
"what we did was organize a “very late lunch” at 7.30pm where we donated $5 minimum to join a recipe exchange evening i.e. cook a dish and bring the recipe to share – there was wine, music and a lot of laughter and we really all had a nice time – the added bonus is that we have $120 to donate in Hans’ name. In fact it may be a little bit more than that as a couple of people who couldn’t make it said they’d like to contribute too so I’ll wait a couple of days before going on-line to do that.I know it’s only a small amount in the vast sums needed for research but it was our pleasure to contribute. Especially since Gregor really wanted me to do something when he brought home the brown lunch bag from Scouts – he can take the credit!!!"
I really wanted to share this story with all of you. I am very proud to know Gregor and I wanted be sure that he knows his desire to make a difference is greatly appreciated. If we all just do a little, we can make a big difference.

Thanks for sharing that sweet story! I just love it! And, I love the way his parents support his good intentions - they've never even met Hans. Pretty sweet!

What a wonderful fund raiser event! And it just goes to show how remarkably thoughful kids can be. Gregor and Michael are proof!
Hans is lucky to live in such a great community and have such wonderful friends.
