About Me

My photo
Bakersfield, CA, United States
Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

More Photos

Here are some more photos. The top one is the new one I just sent in to use for Hans' Lunch for Life Lunch Sacks. Elle holding up her bday gift - an elizabeth swan halloween costume - sorry I didn't rotate it first, it's kind of hard to go back now...Hans up on the counter, and Hans and Grandma holding up the cookies they made to take to sissy's school on her b'day.
This weekend we're going to Elle's soccer game and we hope to hit the pools again on their last weekend, Elle also has to take a Girl Scouts swim test tomorrow... Hans seems to be doing really well. He must have worked the excess steroids out of his system. He starts his second round of Accutane on Monday!

What great photos!! Hans is getting some fullness in his cheeks, nice to see. Not to mention the hair, of course. =) And Elle's Halloween costume rocks. It's just so great to see these photos of my happy, smiling, beautiful wee cousins.

Mucho love.

Elle, your costume is sooo cool (Mom showed it to me!). You're going to have fun on Halloween.

Have fun at the ranch this weekend!

Lara,

You have some awfully cute children. I think Hans is going to be quite the ladies man, with those big blue eyes!

We're keeping you guys in our prayers in Minnesota. We think of you often, and are always happy to hear from Bernie (and the blog) about how well you're all doing.

I also want to tell you how impressed I am with Elle. What a wonderful young woman you and Kevin have raised! Even though I've not met you, I can see in every picture and every post what a great sister and daughter Elle is.

Lots of hugs from the Tierney Clan in Chaska, MN....
