Today we have wrapped up this round of scans. Kevin took Hans in early this morning for Radiation treatment #9 (three to go on M, T, W, next week) and then they came home. Later in the afternoon I took Hans back down for his Echocardiogram. I think it went well. For me it was a good sign that the radiologist didn't make an appearance. The tech isn't supposed to tell you too much, but as long as she's not alerted enough to go get the radiologist, I think we're okay. Hans did his audiogram last week and they did find some hi-frequency hearing loss in his left ear (from the chemo). But, the official report read that no amplification is recommended at this time. Basically he lost a few sounds s, f, ch at low decibels in that ear. Another mom of a child with neuroblastoma shared that her daughter had similar hearing loss and that all she has to do is sit near the front of the classroom. I felt better learning that. Kevin and I haven't detected any sign of a hearing problem. But he's so cute, he'll point at his left ear and say, "yeah, there's some damage..." He must have heard me telling someone that...
We are looking forward to another weekend AT HOME! Kevin's mom, Kathy, gets in next Tuesday, so she'll get to come with us to the last day of radiation, then we get four days off before Hans' second surgery on March 19th.
About Me
- Hans Weberling
- Bakersfield, CA, United States
- Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.
