About Me

Hans was a busy, happy, sweet and fearless three year old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He fought his disease like a "gladiator" for nearly 6 years. Hans was an animal lover to his core. He was 'guarded' at home by his three cats, Black, Orange and Cotton. He also had his Golden Retriever, Honey, to keep him company. Hans enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening, grilling (he had his very own grill!), horseback riding, playing video games, building Legos, and flipping between Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet. Hans loved all members of his family and he was a loyal friend. He had to go through a lot of treatment in his life. But Hans powered through it. His attitude was let's get this done! His motivation was always to get back home, to his family, pets, favorite foods and pool.

Little Setback for Hans

Unfortunately, I'm having to report the news that Hans was admitted into Texas Children's today. He went into clinic yesterday for counts and his numbers were very low. He was going in for a transfusion and plateletes early this a.m. but he had a fever when they got there so they wanted to start him right away on a few kinds of antibiotics. He's probably fighting a little something off but they go ahead and act agressively by taking blood cultures to make sure it's not something very complicated like an infection in his main line. The normal procedure is to keep a watch on him for the next 48 hours. He's been sleeping alot today. Lara's brought along a book for her to pass the time. Kevin and Elle were heading down to the hospital once Elle's school let out for the day. Hans is now in room 914. The direct number to the hospital room for those that would like to call them is 832-826-0914. As before, don't forget to go to the Texas Childrens webpage (www.texaschildrenshospital.org) to create a card which volunteers will walk over to his room for delivery.

Thank you as always for your thoughts and prayers for the little guy!
Carmen
